08/18/23 Meeting Agenda

    4. Community Health Assessment
      1. What it is/ why it’s important
        The discussion revolves around the need to identify doulas and home visiting programs for clients, with a particular focus on addressing gaps in primary breastfeeding support. This emphasis is placed before exploring other areas such as businesses, childcare centers, and schools.
      2. What data is needed
        Obtain information from various sources, including hospitals for lactation consultant data. However, they highlight challenges in accessing data from hospitals. Action items are assigned to collect relevant information from health departments, WIC programs, hospitals, and community resources.
      3. Next steps
        The ultimate goal is to have meaningful data on identified gaps within two months’ time. Connect with the founder of Baby Cafes as a potential resource.

    5. Breastfeeding Friendly Business Program
      1. New businesses in Naperville designated as breastfeeding friendly
      2. The suggestion is made to establish “baby cafes” that would offer mentoring, education, and support for breastfeeding mothers.

  4. Gather the baseline data on breastfeeding services and demographics, including the number of deliveries, initiation of breastfeeding, and other related statistics.
